Hi Rob, thanks for the info.

I assume that the outlander has to be hoisted using the mast, What if 
there is no mast?

I looked at the Skysail that is really for big ships. Is there a smaller 
version of this anywhere.

By recovery winch, could you for example use a drum on a windlass for 
this purpose?

I was more after knowing if the kite is depowered for recovery, or do 
you just fly it straight up an hence limited load.

What sort of involvement is there in the control. Is it a fly and forget 
or do you have to tend it, like a spinnaker. What happens if it lands in 
the drink?

Would love a demonstration but I am in Micronesia at the moment and 
plane tickets to here are mightly expensive.
