I predict a few different craft will break 50 knots this year.  I make that prediction based upon what I saw in the aftermath of the 72 Olympics.  Vasiliy Ivanovich Alekseyev stunned the world by breaking the 500lb mark in the clean and jerk.  People had been trying to do it for years and nobody could.  Within 12 months 4 or 5 other guys made the lift.   I know the two comparisons are very different, but when ever I underestimate the psychological component when it comes to what is possible or even what to shoot for I usually get surprised.  Fifty knots is history, I expect the windsurfers, kite surfers and the other craft we follow to "blow" through it shortly.  However, I'm a habitual optimist.
