We have been using inflatable Stearns kayaks while cruising over the past 5
or 6 years.
These are about 8' long with a fiberglass strake along about 2' of the bow &
a small fin aft.
Despite their light weight (about 26#), they track amazingly well even in
15-20 k wind.
They are neoprene with a nylon cover & quite durable, even for river running
over rocks. We often cruise with them inflated, one on each aft deck of our
Seawind 1000. We love them & wouldn't cruise without them!
