[MHml] Downwind sails

There are lots of occasions when wind an sea conditions mean that it is
beneficial to go DDW (dead down wind). We have found that wing on wing with
the Code zero on the proder and the jib works very well. If the wind is very
slightly off say 170 degress set the code zero on the windward side and the
jib on the leaward side with the jib sheeted in a little and the over spill
of wind in front of the jib will keep the code zero full works at very low
wind speeds. Where the Code 0 really scores is in light winds when you can
pull the apparent forward. Make sure you can sheet it close enough to
benefit. We only use our asymetric spinny when the Code 0 is broken.
I have a spare Doyle Statis Code Zero for sale that might be of interest to
you. It is a hi tech membrane sail (string sail) with single taffeta fitted
with anti torque luff. It is too powerful for the unstayed top of my mast.
Contact me off list if anyone is interested. I am in Aus at the moment.
