Here's my first attempt at details of XL2 for sale:
XL2 is a Lock Crowther Design No. 72 Catamaran.
LOA 38' 4” BOA 25' 2”
Open deck with 'cantilevered cabins' giving generous double berths in
each hull.
Built in 1987 by Geoff Cruse in Brisbane. Foam/kevlar/epoxy construction
with composite main crossbeam and hard decking aft of the mast. 17 metre
aluminum alloy mast by 'SparMaster' (Brisbane) and carbon fibre boom by
Rob Denney. Fully battened spectra mainsail (650 sq ft from memory) No 1
genoas - light and heavy (375 sq ft from memory), Jib non overlapping
(carbon - near new), storm jib, Assymetric spinnakers 2 x fractional and
1 masthead (1900 sq ft from memory) fly from a 4.3 metre bowsprit.
Yamaha 9.9 4 stroke hi-thrust in central nacelle - remote control from
port cockpit with electric start. Full instrumentation.
Enviable race record, including breaking the race record for Brisbane to
Gladstone in 1993 and holding that record for 8 years. Second fastest
Cairns (Australia) to Port Moresby (New Guinea) in 1995 with an average
speed over 16 knots.
Excellent spartan cruising vessel with a boom tent covering the entire
25' beam.
Would be an excellent base for converting to a ultra high performance
bridgedeck cruising cat, similar to “Free Spirit”.
XL2 needs a little work - nothing major - est' A$20k to spend and is
offered for sale at A$195k in 'as is' condition.
