Dave,

Kevlar sounds like an interesting option. Any recommendations as to sources
for the double braided or similar outer jacket?

Regarding the elimination of SS wire from the selection process, I just
figured synthetic would be lighter and easier to repair, and no "flesh
hooks" to draw blood when a strand breaks. The lines will be exposed and may
be a tempting handhold for passengers boarding from the dink.

 

Evan, your experience with Dacron sounds encouraging for the use of
synthetic, especially if I don't set too high a preload.
