I don't think that applying for a hull number--announcing the "laying"
of a keel--actually freezes a hull's design. I bet if you read the
rules carefully, the Germans could keep their "101" number, for the
new rules.
I'm more interested in learning whether the new "sliding keel" rules
include canting keels! Bet it does (Whew! 6.5 meters max sailing
depth!)
BTW, can't we start calling canters "junior" multihulls? After all,
they use the same mode of stability--horizontal displacement of
CG/CB--that multis do, and which monos don't. Anything to cheese-off
the establishment, says I.
