Thanks, I'll keep this in mind in the future, it is a pain in an otherwise
fun boat. I am considering mounting two outboards at the rear; just don't
know the best way yet. It can get unsettling motoring into a strong headwind
underpowered, like a recent trip up the intercoastal at the mercy of the
wind.
I hope your beach cat works out as planned.

High windage and poor maneuverability is something I am very experienced
with. I find that keeping the stern pointed into the wind
and backing around harbors has solved the majority of my problems. Rudders
first, works well for low speed maneuvering. The wind
will still blows the bows off, but now they follow me around, not steer the
boat. I can effectively hold position, advance or
retreat at low speed under full control, something impossible for AB with
the bows pointed into the wind.
