I know Richard Woods and he sent the following:
I am sitting in Curacao waiting for the wind to drop so that we can sail
to Cartagena and the San Blas. There's a wifi guy on the boat next to us
so I am amusing myself by web serving all day.
Suddenly remembered the steamradio list that I used to read. Saw the
discussion on Afterburners engine size to do 20 knots
You may recall that my 1990's brochure showed a Banshee [35' fast cat
-EG] towing a waterskier at 22 knots. It was powered by twin 90hp
outboards, one on each transom. I assume Afterburner would require less hp.
But what Bill will need to do is put the engines on the transoms, not
between the hulls. Otherwise he will just have a very expensive food
mixer effect and I doubt do more than 12 knots. That's because of
aeration of course
Best wishes
