It's an interesting concept with a complete motor/jet drive unit that is nearly a small boat itself. They say it floats upright and displaces half its own weight when attached to a boat. They are made to replace outboards by bolting to any conventional transom. They have 200 and 300 HP models, both diesel. These are the newer version high pressure pumps rather than high velocity and are supposed to be good for towing or moving high displacement loads.

I have no connection to the company, only saw one at a recent conference I attended.

In my imagined use, I wouldn't use the jet ski at low speeds or in reverse. Just to get us from 7 up to 20 knots. Then back on the20 hp outboard for in the harbor.BillAfterburner-----Original Message-----From: multihulls-bounces at steamradio.com [mailto:multihulls-bounces at steamradio.com] On Behalf Of Ross HobsonSent: Thursday, February 01, 2007 11:03 AMTo: Informed discussion of multihull issuesSubject: [MHml] jet ski> Hmmmm...> Hadn't thought of a jet ski.> Aren't jets a lot less efficient than props, especially at lower speeds?>jet ski set up works very well - Pro-vu (ex toshiba, F40 tri) had one fitted, you could pick up the 50Hp complete unit one handed - mind you it screamed like a madchainsaw and threw a big jet of water behind.they had problems sorting the reverse and dropped the idea. but i understand it was dropped without actaully sorting thestopping/reveses thrust problem, which accoring to the guy who fitted the whole set-up should not have been unsurmountable the
jet ski appaently pushed the boat happly over 10 knots. There are probaly soem Brits on the list who know a whole lot more aboutit than I Ross_______________________________________________Alter your subscription details or unsubscribe at the bottom of this page:http://www.steamradio.com/mailman/listinfo/multihullsMultihulls mailing list (Multihulls at steamradio.com)_______________________________________________Alter your subscription details or unsubscribe at the bottom of this page:http://www.steamradio.com/mailman/listinfo/multihullsMultihulls mailing list (Multihulls at steamradio.com)
