I see your point as we have similar on XL2. 9.9(15) 4stroke Yamaha gives
8 in flat water dead calm. Can motor/sail in light to moderate
headwinds at 11 knots at 45 degrees apparent, VMG? Or motor into light
headwinds at about 5 knots. Stronger headwinds require sailing at around
6 knots VMG. It would be really nice to be able to motor at 20 knots
into light headwinds and say 15 kots into stronger headwinds, exceeding
20 knots in light tailwinds. In stronger tailwinds it is more fun to sail.
Hobie 18 with a big outboard sounds great.
