found a definition of sheerline (from the RYA)
The SHEERLINE is formed by the intersection of the upper surface of the
deck or gunwale and the outer surface of the sheer strake, or skin
representing the sheer strake.

from this definition, i would contend that your boats doors are above
the sheerline. so no issue

sails - on Charleston we have a soft strop that is on the fixed part of
the jib downhaul/tack point for the tack, and a single soft strop for
the head so it doesn't fly away from the forestay on hoisting -we use
the gennaker halyard for hoisting - no probs.
we used a very similar set upon Molly for the storm jib/staysail - until
i moved to a inner furling set-up

on Nets - agree it is very confusing to get your head around the
variations in the regs. This is an example of trying to write regs that
cover numerous variations!
