I strongly urge you to get together with safety officer for the 
particular event(s) you wish to enter and go over the Regs with 
him.  They are usually very receptive to making allowances that make 
sense.  But you do need to talk with them to make it happen.  Also, 
you might try to contact person spearheading the multihull class in 
the race(s) as they may already have gotten special dispensations 
from the race organizers, or at least would know whom to talk with.
