[MHml] Winch vs Tackle

Ross
You could be right, our new GM main gives us approx 5sq m more area with
a bigger roach. This must move the CE aft and lessen lee helm. We tend
to now have a neutral helm mostly but I've no knowledge re hull flying
with it and no inclination to attempt it.

Cheers Peter.

Peter
i think that is more a question of sail balance than helm
i guess you had more power than usual - hence unexpected hull flying

on Charsteon i am wary of bearing off with thegennaker up as things tend
to power up fast. In contrast on the Vx40's they are underpowered
(honest) in comparison to the Formula 28 and are quite happy to bear
away under gennaker and in fact do so to de-power the boat

Carlo, it wanted to turn away from the wind and head down
onto a reach, which would have been a disaster.

                        Cheers Peter.

Hi,
