  Yes, he did according to an email he sent Claas, but that would not, of itself, stop his design from prospering if it had performed as stated. Apparently it didn't, and although one expects a certain amount of hyperbole from a designer about his latest brain child, his was waaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond any reasonable comparison with fact. Claas was kind enough to send me copies of correspondence on this topic between various people shortly after the article in question appeared in Multimag. I see that he seems to have moved to Ontario so perhaps he switched to ice boats where hull form is not as big a factor :^).
