Mike,

Perhaps you should put a call to a guy named, Buff Grubb, at Confluence
Watersports? He runs the Mad River canoe part of their business, but has
been with the company for a very long time and knows all the players, both
past and present... as well as the ghosts in the closet, though he ain't
tellin'.

Buff could direct you to a group of guys who are (were) all hooked-up on the
Rave scene. It's more than likely that they know where the loose boats
reside, the issues with spare parts, the sailing groups and when they get
together, etc.

Another guy to try, though it's a longer shot, would be Gordon Colby, who
now runs the MTI Adventurewear company (pfd's, paddling clothes, Palm
extreme wet gear out of England) in Plympton, Mass. Gordon was at Confluence
when they "launched" the Rave and he also knows the players.

Anyway, there are boats out there not being used, so you have a good shot at
locating one at a good price. Look carefully at the rotomolded hulls to see
if they are brittle at all on the top surfaces. Not a good sign, as getting
a new plastic part spun-up could be problematic. That's also a good question
to ask... who has the rotomold tools and in what condition are they for a
part or two, if needed.

Chris
