Paul
the VX40 has a very neat Hollmatro system, pump sheet on - turn valve to pump cunningham on - hand valve to dump, all right next to mainsheet hand and helm

the main control is the traveller with little mainsheet alteration
this is the same situation on Charleston

intersteingly on Mollymawk it was the other way around, but we had a much more limited length of mainsheet travller track to ply the sail on

Maybe they have got more reliable in recent years. Rob Denney had a 'dump' valve close to hand on STB but it didn't work so the boat ended up upside down.
Rogntidjuuuu had a hydraulic mainsheet that deposited oil all over the deck, making the boat very dangerous and impossible to sail competitively. You can't hand hold a hydraulic system.
