[MHml] Your best tips for an offshore jacket to keep the wetstuffout

I am attached to my Henri Lloyd's offshore stuff, however, since it is 20 yrs old or so, I'm looking like a tramp in it. But it is still keeping me warm and (mostly) dry. What is not too say from the lots of boots I wore out in that time. So, last year I bought a pair of Musto HPX Leatherboots, which I hope is from equal quality. At least, since it is leather and not plastic, just after a few sailing trips they are looking the same now and matching with the tramp look.

In my memory I spent a little more than a boat buck for trousers and jacket, a lot of money in that time, but worth every penny.

I'm afraid you don't do much with £200 for an of shore jacket (it's enough for the boots and still some left for thermal socks)

  Hi all,

A kind soul has donated £200 -sadly $400 these days ;-) to buy me a nice warm jacket to keep out the cold and the wet.

So I am off to the boatshow to spend it.

Come on I know you all love (and hate) oilies! What would you recommend?

I like to do short offshore stuff eg fastnet, cross channel....not round the cans but not round the world either.

Should I spend more, less etc?

  best wishes to you all
  andy
