Check out the survival / work suits by Fladen, Mustang and Shakespear. Warm,
waterproof bouyant and cheep. I replaced my Henry Lloyd ocean stuff ($1000
15 years ago) with a Fladen Rescue System Floatation Suit ($150 5 years ago).
I use it whenever the going gets rough, wet or cold and find it much more
comfortable than oilies. I keep a set of very cheep light weight oilies mainly
for going ashore in the dinghy or the very light shower onboard or when you
only need a jacket..

In fairness the HL stuff does work and lasted about 10 years but you needed
other stuff underneath to keep warm and was no where near as comfortable.

Hi all,

A kind soul has donated ?200 -sadly $400 these days ;-) to buy me a nice
warm jacket to keep out the cold and the wet.

So I am off to the boatshow to spend it.

Come on I know you all love (and hate) oilies! What would you recommend?

I like to do short offshore stuff eg fastnet, cross channel....not round the
cans but not round the world either.

Should I spend more, less etc?

best wishes to you all
andy

Peter Nice
