There is a Hobby class fleet in Montreal (fleet 187, though their web
address isn't working right now). They are part of div 12, who's contact
information is:

I've seen hobie cats sailing in near solid ice in Michigan, and know of many
boats in Washington state and Alaska. They aren't just for warm sandy
beaches!
There is also a Toronto Multihull Cruising Club. It is at:
8 Unwin Avenue
Toronto, ON M5A 1A1, Canada
(416) 461-0028

This appears to be a thriving club; there are many references to it online.
Give them a shout, see what's going on in Montreal--or consider joining
their club in Toronto.
Also, btw, the 2006 World Hobie Championships were held in Galicia, Spain.

There is a lot more catamaran sailing out there than meets the casual eye. I
got all the above by spending 10 minutes with Google.
Good luck
