Hi Peter,

A quick guide to obscure multihull terms:

Dolphin striker - A small pole that extends beneath
a bowsprit, and carries the supporting rigging.

Seagull striker - Like a dolphin striker, but from
the top of the bowsprit.

Biplane rig - Two masts that are side-by-side. When
used on a catamaran, one mast will be mounted on each
hull. The ill-fated Team Philips, and Yves Parlier's
Hydroplaneur are examples.

There are cruisers here, who should be able to help
with your questions. As for websites, try:

    http://www.yachtingworld.com/
    http://www.yachtingmonthly.com/

    Sailing Anarchy (http://www.sailinganarchy.com) has
a cruising forum, and that would be another place to
ask for advice.

        Graeme
