Most likely because he thinks it is fun and it doesn't cost much.
Sven changed his name to Yrvind in the 1990s and before that he was known
as Sven Lundin. Sven is one of those real wacky characters and he has managed
to make living out of that.
Sven is not new to multihulls btw. He built Newick Vals in New England many,
many moons ago.
