I have been travelling for the last four weeks and am only now getting into
my emails (all 545 of them) Unfortunately most of the Multihull post go to
my spam filter and are automaticly deleted after a few days .. so I don't
know if I understand the question / substance of this thread.... but ...

Re: tax boats
I have a Fountaine Pajot built in '93. No VAT or other taxes were levied at
the time of purchase. It was sold to a Malta based company (owned by
Frenchmen) and put into service as a charter vessel ("Moorings" in Turkey).
It was sold 5 years later to its second owner who paid the VAT on the (used)
selling price. This would seem to indicate the tax free boats did not have
to go to former french colonies .

Re: thickness of bulkheads?
I recently put in new nav instruments next to the helm. The fiberglass was
solid, over 1/4 inch thick. It varied top to bottom (several instruments)
from 5/16 to about 7/16 (0.9 - 1.2cm). The port bulkhead between the saloon
and the cockpit has a cubby hole probably meant for books. Mine was cut out
and enlarged to hold a small washing machine. Here the material is a
honeycomb and about 3/4 inch thick (2 cm)

I hope the above is of assitance to the questions on the FP

Peter
