Yes!

The Bimini top is a waterproofed version of Sunbrella called Marklon and it 
does keep rain out.   On a clear, cold night, however, dew forms inside the 
Marklon enclosure and drips on our pillows (of course, nowhere else).   The liner 
catches this.    To keep the pillows dry, and the mate smiling, we seem to 
need two watertight layers.
