Dyform SS wire is supposed to be especially sensitive to kink loading, which is why they put a hinge in mine.  I tied 1/2" bungee
directly to Sonrisa's 1x19 wire without a problem or a visible kink.

I understand paul's concern. However I do not find that a clove hitch 
of 1/4 inch nylon starter cord around 5/16th 1 by 19 stainless wire 
causes a kink in it as such, rather a  short section of curve of 
perhaps 2 or 3 inch radius. In any event I have not so far suffered a 
shroud failure at any point over their length, either in whole or in 
a single strand and the present set have been on now 10 years and 
will be replaced shortly on a time basis not for any apparent 
problem. OK an overtime basis then.
