         Pelicans are not all that prevalent in the Pacific North 
West either, but we do have lots of Seagulls, dolphins too - so no 
argument there, in fact the Pacific whitesides, our most prevalent 
one, typically leap clear of the water on every, or at least most, 
breaths, so would be very good candidates to justify that particular term.
