[MHml] Yamaha 9.9 Problems

I am looking for a used 9.9 (longshaft) outboard as well. If Yanmar reliability is a problem..Which Brand would the list reccommend? I have experienced these types of problems with my 1970s era Volvo Penta 140 over the past year and cannot locate a manual, a parts source, or knowledgeable mechanic for this type of outboard..

so I need to upgrade to a "newer" used (hopefully reliable) Honda, Yanmar, Nissan, Dihatsu, etc..

Does the list have opinions? Which do you like and why?

All ideas welcome! (I mean, I don't want to rush a good analysis for my next 20 yrs. of faithfull service)

Thanx in advance,

La Admiral Dave
