You guys got me thinking: Use a Lotus frame instead of crossbeams on a 
performance cat.  After all, the Lotus frame supports loads at 4 corners 
(hulls) and supports a heavy engine at one end (mast compression load), 
and was conceived to be very stiff for its weight, if I am not mistaken.

Hmm... Sounds like a trimaran with a tiny elevated central hull.  Or is 
it a Catamaran with a central "pod"?  (I just wanted to say that to save 
others the trouble.)
