[MHml] Open Racing offshore vs closed course was Cats vs Tri

G'day,

Using a vane to trim the rig was always on the list of things to do on the
ballestron, but never got round to it. We are awaiting the engineering for
an 18m/60' harry with a wing rig. This will be trimmed by a vane, which
should show how it can be done.

Using the rig is also a good idea and the basis of cheap and cheerful (and
successful) self steering gears on many boats. The fun and sense of
accomplishment from getting non electric self steering gear to work is one
of the many things missing from today's short handed race boats.

Regards,

Rob the luddite.
