As the owner of both a J24 and a Nonsuch 30 I feel somewhat compelled
to comment....
The Nonsuch is an amazing cruiser. Fast, comfortable and very easy to
handle. Points higher and generally sails way better than any 30 foot
long, 12 foot wide and 14,000 pound boat has any right to. Boring as
church to sail. The Wylie designs are far superior and a much better
bench mark.
The J24 is a great closed course racer. Almost impossible to beat on
PHRF (so long as you go the right way). The entire boat is a dinosaur.
Sails are expensive. I don't see it as a rig for a "fast" boat. Better
to start with the new Tornado rig, in my opinion.
