David,

One extra bit of advice might be from the dockmaster at Beaufort, NC who 
suggested following the 10 fathom curve southbound.   We did this in a 40' tri and 
found in deeper water bigger waves and in shallower they were steeper but 
smaller.   Northbound might be a different set of issues.   We had NE winds 25-35 
and the Stream was stalled by the winds.   No curent, at least on the 
surface.

We did duck in at Cape Fear and the entrance was awesome.
