The rigger is the man to talk with Larry. It was at the exit slots for
halyards these masts (2 as far as I know) have broken. I have been told all
masts have been reinforced at this point and this will not cause any future
problems. And everybody should have confident in that as the Reynolds people
are very competent and not new in this game

All sailors know masts break from time to time, and by different reasons. In
a race here a couple of years ago 10 boats dismasted, it wasn't criminal
neither doing it nor talking about it afterwards - we just all learnt a
little more from it
I will also mention I'm no expert at this but I built my Guegeon wing for my
first boat, I have been involved in building alumasts as well as carbon
masts for some of the multihulls here, and I have designed and built carbon
masts for the 37ft Norcats

Good luck to you Larry, both with your mast project and future racing. And
remember in a forum like this there will always be people more inerested in
a barfight than exchanging information and experience; you just have to take
it with a smile :-)

Regards Reidar flying to Paris and "Salon Nautique" in a few hours :-) :-)
