Flip the mast so the sleeve is on the bottom. You really don't want the 
weight on the top. Also you want the bottom over strong as this is where 
masts normally fail.

On the effect of performance, I don't know. In a winds of some level the 
thing will twist back out on it's own is it's likely only a lighter air 
thing. As you seem to be more of a cruiser this means you will use the 
motor when speed matters. So it isn't likely to come into play.
