[MHml] a new downwind sail

G'day,
They are not easy, but they are a lot easier to singlehand than a spinnaker,
assymetric or symmetric. And they are safe. No wraps round the forestay,
no broaches, no capsize, no flogging, no hoisting the jib before you drop
the kite. And no winching, all the trimming is done by easing the lines.
I would certainly call Dave and see if he can lend you one or tell you of
one in your area. You will not get it figured out the first day (same as
you didn't figure the spi the first time you went sailing, but persevere and
you will end up wondering why people bother with conventional spinnakers and
all their hassles.
At least, that was my experience. I intend taking one on my 50' proa for
the solo Transpac.
Regards,
rob
