| I'm no longer in the loop but I have seen the boat foil-borne and my
| impression is of less diving and more stability than L'Hydroptere.

More stability of boat and thus constant sail power thus average speed
is exactly, what *sail* hydrofoil developers, adaptors, makers were aiming for,
as e.g. Klaus Enzmann of TopCat ("CatLift" clampable kits for beach cats,
or Aldis Eglajs with his > 27 knot hydrofoil-supported speed proa in 1982,
and David Allen Keiper ("Williwaw", "Stormy Petrel") since the mid 60's.

BTW: I just rough cut the footage of my stay with Dave in Nov-Dec. 1997
down to a 23min. no comment documentary on *a* hydrofoil sailboat pioneer,
as contribution to the planned museum of the Int`l. Hydrofoil Society (IHS).

Unfortunately, our trials at Crab Orchard Refuge in (IL.) were not taped,
so no chance to study later what needed improvement to get foilborne.
Dave Carlson (are you here ?, who improved and finished Dave`s Hobie 18,
got here up nicely, at least on prints and at no waves.
